Collegiata Pinot Grigio ($25 bottle, $7 glass)

PUT DOWN that overpriced, too sweet bottle of Santa Margherita and try this light bodied, fragrant, and fruity PG.  Very clean acidity.  Perfect for shellfish or to sip on the back patio.

Dom. Perraud Macon White Burgundy ($25 bottle, $8 glass)

Instead of the same old California Chard, try this great (and inexpensive) white burgundy.  I taste white flowers and spiced pears.  Medium bodied, fresh and lively with the characteristic minerality.

Elizabeth Spencer Pinot Noir ($35 bottle, $10 glass).

Who says every California Pinot has to be $50+ a bottle?!  This gem from Calistoga has a perfumed bouquet of plums, spice notes, black cherry and a hint of earthy truffles.  This wine begs for a pairing of roasted chicken with herbs.
SOMETHING DIVINE FROM THE VINE
Don't pay any attention to the FOR LEASE signs out front, Chateau and Bodega Bar are still alive and well. All the action at this place has always been in the back anyway. So, just head down the sidewalk by the fountain and the door is on your left. Same place, same great wines, same great time!
Below average cost doesn't = below average wine. In a lot of cases (no pun intended) it just means that wine is newer, has a limited production, and/or doesn't have a PR firm marketing it to the public. We pride ourselves in finding these kind of wines and here are 2 great ones that are under $30 and also offered by the glass in Bodega Bar.
